Jianwen (Jennivine) Chen.
I am a PhD candidate at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS). Previously, I completed an MSc in Quantum Technologies at UCL, and studied Computer Science and Philosophy as an undergraduate at the University of Oxford.
I grew up between the skylines of Beijing, Sydney, and London. In my free time, I enjoy painting, reading, writing, and wandering both through unfamiliar cities and along long trails in the countryside. I am especially drawn to questions that sit somewhere between physics, mathematics, and philosophy, and I try to carry the same curiosity for art and beauty that motivates my research into the rest of my life.

My research broadly explores the fundamental limits that the laws of quantum mechanics impose on physical processes.

[July 2026] I gave a workshop presentation at QuCSPs 2026 based on my Master's thesis on the mathematical structure of contextuality, commutation groups, and operator satisfiability of linear constraint systems.
