To sit for the Certificate of Communication, candidates are required to perform 6 sections.
This includes:
a 10-minute speech presentation on a topic that's current and controversial
a 3-minute extemporised speech from a phrase chosen by the adjudicator on the day
a 1-minute impromptu speak-on-a-word
a sight-reading on a previously unseen article, followed by a discussion with the audience
a 2-3 minutes memorised prose/poetry
a spoken theory exam.
On completion of this exam, I received a mark of 92%. A minimum of 70% is needed in order to gain this certificate. The speech below was written for my section 1.
